Ever Since I Received Christ, My Life Got Worse

A lot have come to believe that they suffered much loss ever since they received the life of Christ. Lost some friends, started having financial issues, a loved one fell sick, some close people died. And when I analyze all this, it began after I gave my life to Christ.
Even in Scripture, we get a similar statement from the Jews who had stopped idolatry (Jeremiah 44:17–18). They said, "Since we left off burning incense to the queen of heaven, we have wanted all things, and have been consumed by the sword and by the famine." But this thought process is illogical, because correlation is not causation.
Here are some reasons why your life seems worse than it was before you received the life of Christ.
1. Change of Lifestyle
Without any external pressure, receiving the life of Christ lays certain expectations on you that the Holy Spirit will be prompting in you. So you have a yearning to please God, yet your flesh still desires things of the past. That internal battle makes you feel miserable. It is you going through withdrawal, and the feeling is a withdrawal symptom.
One way to stand strong through this is understanding why you should keep from that thing. Not necessarily because it is a sin and it will not please God, but also consider what benefits you are forfeiting by engaging in anything that displeases the Lord. Keeping from that particular thing is beneficial to the state of your body, soul, and spirit. Beyond fear of hell being the motivator, the better person you become after letting go is a bigger motivation.
Another way to stand strong is to be around people and an environment that encourages your commitment in Christ. They may not be praying all the time, but they encourage you by how they handle themselves.
2. Your Mind Being Renewed
"And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind" (Romans 12:2). The renewal of the mind means a recalibration of your thoughts and decisions. At first, it is difficult and draining. Trying to have faith in circumstances that seem impossible crushes you. But that is actually the process. The Lord will have to break down strongholds in your mind in order for Him to rebuild your mind (2 Corinthians 10:4–5). This is not an overnight thing. It is a process that can take a lifetime, where you are unlearning and learning new things.
So how do you endure this process? By listening to encouraging, mind‑challenging teachings. In your free time, what are you listening to? Does it motivate you to see the world from a different lens? Also, by reading the word slowly and gradually, your mind is being reconfigured to the right settings.

3. Building of Faith
God allows us to face difficult times so that we build our faith on Him. Not in a manipulative way, but He does because without faith it is impossible to please Him (Hebrews 11:6). Faith is the currency in this new kingdom you are situated in, so He works in you, on you, and through you in the building of most holy faith (Jude 1:20).
So for example It seemed easier to get money out there; now here it seems difficult. Can you get on your knees and ask Him, and see if He will not cause it to happen? That is what He wants you to achieve. One way to expedite this process is to be one who reads the word and familiarizes yourself with Him through prayer and fellowshipping with others.
Having received this life you go through a process of God gracefully breaking you down and rebuilding you. What most think are pleasures of the world are just devices to numb you and normalize the abnormal. You lose someone when you are in the world, you drown yourself in alcohol to numb the pain and this peace is artificial. You get depressed because the burden is too much to bear. In contrast
You lose someone while you’re in Christ, you look to Him. He gives you genuine peace and comfort and heals your soul. Gives you strength that you know that outside of him, i wouldn’t have had such strength.
Same situation different outcomes, because of HIM in you. So being in Christ doesn’t guarantee Trouble free life, however it guarantees that you’re the one left standing after every trouble, nothing can bring you down. (2Cor 4:8-9)
Here you face the realities of life with the upper hand of having the Author of life on your side. So it is not that things are getting worse. It is just that you are now facing everything you were facing before you were in Christ, just that you are sober, your eyes are open, and you are really seeing the need of God in your life. (Mathew 5:3)
In the world, they say “Ignorance is bliss” this is a lie. Ignorance gives you a false sense of security because in our context you’re not willing to look beyond what meets the eye, ignorance keeps you in the matrix, ignorance does not protect you it leaves you vulnerable. But Now that you are in Christ you’re more aware and more vigilant, you see that life is spiritual. And the only way to be on the victory side is aligning with the Victor and knowing that "He who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light" (1 Peter 2:9) is faithful.
So when you say, "Ever since I received Christ, my life got worse," your statement is not entirely accurate. It is no longer your life if you have received His life. (Galatians 2:20) Rather, you should say, "His life seems miserable" but that is not true either.
All the things you were going through before Him are the same things now. All the things you were supposed to go through are still there. What is different is that you are now more aware, more sensitive, and more dependent on Him.

This is the life in abundance. (John 10:10). This is the victorious life. (1 Corinthians 15:57). This is heaven on earth. Just cast your burden on Him, for He cares for you (1 Peter 5:7). And allow Him to teach you how to navigate. Jesus said, "Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls" (Matthew 11:29).
So hold on. The worst of life in Christ is still better than the best of life without Him. Your eyes are open now. You are sober. You are vigilant. And you are not alone.
