"Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God."

— 2 Corinthians 1:4 (KJV)

God comforts us so that later we can comfort those who will be in need of the comfort we once needed.

You see, God never wastes pain. He will allow you to go through certain tribulations and sufferings so that, by His help, you gain immunity and mastery over that affliction. Then He directs you to others who are suffering what you suffered, and you become their help.

It's difficult for you to understand the pain someone is going through unless you yourself have gone through it. Now, when you see someone suffering, the feelings of their infirmity touch you too. And having mastered that pain before, you step in and become the remedy. No wonder why, many people who operate in healing ministry were once very sick themselves and recovered.

So never think that any pain or affliction you go through means God is just in the corner laughing and enjoying the sight of your tears. No. He is training you to be the medicine He will give to others.

So you don't just survive it — you master it.

And that mastery becomes your ministry.
